Brief History of Sigalarm
The development of the (PWD) known as Sigalarm first
started in 1952 by Daniel Winters of Wintronics,
Inc. Located in Hawthorn, CA Patents were issued in
1957.
On February 28th 1961 patent rights were purchased
by CPM. CPM was formed for the explicit purpose to
manufacture and distribute Sigalarm.
On February 7th 1965 Patent # 3168729 was granted to
CPM and a contract for 20 units was awarded to
Montek, Inc. located in Salt Lake City, UT. Richard
M. Jepperson an engineer for Montek, Inc, later
became an independent contractor who built Sigalarm
units for CPM.
In 1969 CPM sold the patent rights to Bower
Industries, located in Orange, CA. Bower Industries
manufactured and distributed Sigalarm until June 1st
1979 when rights were sold to Frank Thomas.
Frank Thomas moved from Irvine, CA to Oregon where
he continued operations until 1993.
In 1993- Frank Thomas sold all rights to Frank Wood
located in Cocoa Beach, Fl.
On September 10th 1999- Frank Wood sold rights to
Lance and Kim Burney located in Sanford, Fl.
1999- present- Majority owned by Lance and Kim
Burney.
